Background

Luis Roberto Zamora Bolaños is one of Costa Rica’s most prominent constitutional litigators: he obtained the Supreme Court’s declaration of unconstitutionality regarding the country’s support for the Iraq invasion, the annulment of a decree on repression of demonstrations and participated in the process leading to the legalization of same-sex marriage (2016–2018). He has conducted human rights monitoring missions in Gaza, Palestine and the Philippines.

Approach

“Constitutional Law is not theoretical. Every successful amparo shifts the line of what the State can and cannot do.”
